New York Times Blog Addresses Caring for Aging Parents

The New York Times has a new blog, The New Old Age, which will address the concerns of children who find themselves caring for their aging parents. (You may need to register to access the site, but it is free.)

In The New Old Age, Jane Gross explores this unprecedented
intergenerational challenge and shares the stories of readers, the
advice of professionals, and the wisdom gleaned from her own experience
caring for her mother in her waning years.

One of her recent posts is on The Car Key Conversation, which is, of course, about the difficulty in talking to your parents about giving up their car keys.

I’m looking forward to reading that blog, and hope that she will also be addressing the many legal issues that arise when caring for an aging parent – such as making sure their estate plan is in order so that someone has the authority to take over management of finances and health care decisions when the parent is no longer able to do those things for themselves.
